He imagines those lines getting deeper as Lance continues to laugh brightly and unabashedly through their lives; he imagines holding a sun-browned hand in front of the warmth of a fire in deep winter; he imagines the sound of Lance’s pacing as they fret over a mortgage; he imagines Lance’s even breathes on white sheets as the slow morning rays wake him up. He imagines the rest of his life, the rest of their life, and he sees it so clearly that he feels it reverberate in his bones, feels it in the ache of his teeth.
