What does it mean to be the heir to a throne bathed in the blood and ash of the rest of the world? What does it mean, especially when you know you aren't capable? Zuko knows he isn't good like the rest of them. They are good naturally, seeing evil and knowing it's wrong. Zuko, on the other hand, has struggled with that for so long, that taking a throne? Ruling? Especially over a Nation of War Criminals. He'd really rather not.
But he doesn't really have a choice, does he? His destiny is set in stone.

When the first Madrigal grandchild was born, the entire Encanto had rung bright, hope thrumming through the warm August air as if the earth and nature itself were celebrating along with the family and their sentient house at the top of the valley. As far as births went, it had been an easy one - a mere five hours after the midwife had been called, Isabela had arrived with the sunrise, wielding strong lungs and raging fists. The entire valley had bloomed like a flower, pinks and golds illuminating the horizon as the sun peeked over the mountainous cradle of the Encanto. A perfect beginning for a blessed new generation of Madrigals.
There are many things that start out perfect. Children, houses, hearts.
Life is a chisel, however, Time a hammer, and Fortune the butcher that wields them.
