Evie's smile flattened a bit, her eyes peering up at him skeptically. Happy to humor him but decidedly onto him too.
“Thankfully, I’ve had my needs met this evening.” Astarion let his thumb drag over her quick pulse. Evie could look at him however he wanted but she couldn't hide that. His hand traveled lower over her collar and her inhale lifted more of her chest into his palm. “Though…I wonder if anyone has considered your needs.” Her pulse raced deliciously beneath his touch. He could almost feel the blood pouring over his tongue. “If you like, we could go somewhere away from camp and get you exactly what you need.”
“Oh - tonight?” Evie’s brows lifted. “I…have plans with Shadowheart tonight.”

“When was the last time you ate?”
She didn’t need to look to feel Astarion’s raised eyebrow, and he regarded her question with cool detachment. “Two nights ago.”
That was the night they’d had the shared nightmare, after the disaster that was him feeding from her. Add on the days they’d spent in Baldur’s Gate with very few options for Astarion to feed, and Jenrila was surprised he seemed so nonchalant about it.
“Do you…need to eat?”
Astarion snapped his book shut with a sharp thump. Footsteps sounded across the floor and Astarion appeared in her field of vision, eyebrow still raised.
“Do you not recall the last time you asked? Or are you so keen to recreate that scene in such wonderful lodgings?”

Killing Cazador may have freed Astarion, but the scars – both physical and mental – are still fresh and raw. While Jen's trauma is the focus of the group's attention, the impact on Astarion is unintentionally brushed to the side. At the Last Light Inn, with tempers fraying and too many missions to do, cracks begin to emerge in Astarion and Jen's relationship. With thoughts of the dark ritual in his mind, what path will he choose?
