It was rare that they got the time to do this. Chimney taking over as captain and Maddie's new role as supervisor, along with two kids under the age of six, didn't leave a lot of time to do more than regular vanilla sex.
But tonight, they could take as long as they wanted. Buck had offered to take Jee and Nash overnight so they could have a proper date night. Needless to say, Maddie immediately knew what the night would entail once they got back from dinner. She just wasn't sure if her husband did.

Eddie sighed again and brought a hand to his face. "I had a nightmare that Chris got his girlfriend pregnant, and I became a grandfather at thirty-four years old," he said more clearly.
Buck froze. "Oh," he replied. He let go of Eddie's arms and crossed his own over his chest. He clenched his jaw, trying not to laugh.
Eddie squinted his eyes at Buck and pouted. "You wanna laugh, don't you?"
"No," Buck lied.

Elaine looked up from where she was taking notes. “Buck. From what you’ve told me it seems like he’s a very integral part of both yours and Christopher's life.”
“Buck’s just my best friend,” Eddie clarified.
Elaine raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t say otherwise. I simply meant to point out you have an easier time allowing your friends in rather than romantic partners. You made that connection on your own. Is there something different about your relationship with Buck?”
“No,” Eddie snapped before he could think.

Summary
Desperately needing something to do, Eddie reached and grabbed the glass of water Chim had placed for him. His hand froze with the glass halfway to his mouth, and his eyes landed on the baby monitor.
Buck was here right now, talking to the baby.
Eddie set his glass back down on the counter. Before he could overthink it, he was reaching for the monitor. There, right on the screen, was little baby Robert standing in his crib. He was holding onto the side and looking down at the floor, where Buck assumedly was.
In the corner of the screen, Eddie could see the muted speaker icon. If he listened, Eddie could finally learn why he and Buck had been pulling away from each other, and then maybe he could fix it. It was also a huge invasion of privacy. If Buck was venting to a literal baby, it was probably because he didn't actually want anyone to know what he was talking about. After a few seconds of debate, Eddie unmuted it.

Later, Eddie would remember it in slow motion. The way he could feel everyone freeze in place. It was all broken by a single yell.
“It’s gonna fall!”
Eddie wasn’t sure who sent out the warning. As if shocked to life, everyone around him jumped to action, moving themselves and others out of the way.
In reality it was maybe thirty seconds in total. Eddie was still standing in place, frozen. He was unable to tear his gaze away from the building in front of him.
The building that was collapsing.
The building that Buck was inside.

Karen's kisses were sweet. A mixture of her flavoured lip gloss and the fruity drinks she'd been ordering all night. It was the most amazing thing Hen had ever tasted.
Shoes and jackets were carelessly thrown to the ground as they made their way to the bedroom. Karen's hands were between them, unbuttoning Hen's shirt. Hen's hand caressed up and down Karen's side, itching to meet bare skin. She loved that after all their years together, they were still like this. Desperate to be close, desperate to touch.
"Want you," she managed to get out between breaths.
Karen pulled back and gazed at Hen with a dark look. "Then take me."

Lena and Dewey were trying to lift up a vending machine that was knocked down but were failing miserably. Eventually, Lena groaned in frustration and lifted it with her powers instead. Huey was muttering to himself as he paced down the messy isles. In his hand was the list of medical supplies that Gryo had given them that morning. Violet was behind the main counter. Louie watched as she picked up a bottle full of some kind of pills. Instead of taking it to Huey with the list, Violet slipped the bottle into her pocket.
