The pitcher, Sawamura Eijun, was not, in fact, a boy.

That is, until the topic of marriage comes up, and Haurchefant gets the bright idea that if they were trying to enter Ishgard for a wedding, they'd have to be let in. And who better to get married than the Warrior of Light and Haurchefant himself.
