“Maybe we gotta give Cassie and Ethan another point of connection,” Fezco says, his sudden recommendation paired with a shrug. “Maybe Cassie’s roommate could date Ethan’s roommate.”
She squints at him as she tries to understand what he was hinting at - maybe one of Cassie’s roommates could date Ethan’s roommate. Cassie’s roommate. Not Maddy, and he had never met Bobbi. The shitty champagne and vodka is definitely making her think crazy things, but she can’t help but linger on his proposal.
Was he talking about her?
“Did you just suggest that we should pretend to date each other?” Lexi asks, in a tone that’s surprisingly curious and open. “Like, to push Cassie and Ethan together?”
“I mean – told ya it was a stupid idea.” Now Fezco is the one who won’t make eye contact.
“No, I don’t hate it.” Lexi let her fingers brush against her bare knees. “I kind of love it.”

“And everybody likes you.” She adds after a beat.
“What you mean?”
She shrugs.
“Everybody likes you.” She repeats. “Even though you’re the town’s drug dealer, nobody hasn’t any bad thing to say about you. My best friend considers you like family. And we both know how Rue’s a hardcore misanthropist.”
Fezco laughs then and nods. Lexi smiles back at him, she likes his smile. How his eyebrows raise on his forehead, and his tongue picks against his teeth.
“She loves you too.
- Because we’ve known each other since pre-school. If she’d got to know me now, I don’t think she’d like me.
- I like you.”
Lexi’s smile slowly fades away as she registers what he just said. His eyes flicker to her lips, and for a second, she thinks he’s gonna kiss her.------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary
The officer standing in front of the prisoner nods his head at her, "You must be, Miss Howard, the student teacher. Hope that are prepared to handle these animals." He lightly nods his head backwards to the prisoner behind him.
She gives him a curt smile in acknowledgment but can't find her words to respond.
Lexi knows that she should follow the same advice that was given to the prisoner. Keep your eyes down . But she doesn't.
She lets her eyes flit up briefly to catch the icy blue of his eyes glaring through her. She lets her chestnut waves fall in front of her face, only allowing for a small window of her eyes to be visible to him. It’s her only shield from his attention.
Just before she goes to pass him, he slightly cocks his head to the side, one corner of his mouth pulling into the most subtle smirk that none of the guards catch. Or maybe they do, but they don’t care. She feels exposed, as if he is hearing the frantic beating of her heart and feeling the chill crawling up her skin through just his glare.

He probably could have made that statement twenty minutes into their first meeting, but it feels especially apt now, after he’s survived enough career-related meltdowns and fights with her family to understand just how desperately she clings to that sense of control. How frustrating it is when everyone doesn’t understand that the Lexi Howard way to do something is by far the best.
“Think you’d like bein’ in charge of me,” he mutters, slipping back to gauge her reaction, track the subtle blush she can feel beginning on her chest.

Lexi's mouth opens but no words come out. She mentally tells herself to pull herself together, this was the reason she even agreed to come here despite all of her apprehensions. So she just nods, unable to think if drinking is a good idea at this point.
Fez walks with her to the bar to replace her spilled cosmo, also grabbing himself another beer from Greg.
“Do you, um, know me?” She asks hesitantly.
For a moment he looks at her, blue eyes that are the exact shade as she remembers locked onto her face as he drinks her in. After what feels like an eternity, replies, “No. Should I? Have we met before?”
