If someone had broken Techno’s window, he might’ve forgiven them, provided they had a good reason.
If someone had hijacked his house, he probably would’ve stabbed them.
If that same somebody had decided that his mattress was going to become their deathbed, sure, why not? Who was he, in the infinite whims of the universe, to stop them from bleeding out all over his floorboards?
…but of all the ungodly hours, why did it have to be 2am?

Sam did not like to be disobeyed.
Moreover, Sam did not like to be humiliated.
So when Dream somehow managed to do both of those things—in less than a blink of the eye, no less—Sam didn’t think it an overreaction to use a potion or two in retaliation. Or a few more after that. Or even more then. It was necessary, was what he told himself. Dream needed to be subdued, or else Dream would keep on scheming, trying to escape again. It was all necessary.
Sam was no Quackity. He never did anything beyond what was reasonable.
This, all of this, was necessary.
(and after all, it wasn’t like his prisoner was in any state to complain.)

Summary
Dream didn’t quite know how or when, but at some point during his indeterminate stay there Pandora’s Vault had gone from being a curse to a blessing and he certainly wasn’t going to complain about it.
He wasn’t actually sure what had happened to the rest of the server, just that Sam was dead, some weird “Egg” entity was infecting everyone it could get its hands (vines?) on, and that the prison was essentially now a quarantine bunker and also the only thing keeping him alive at all.
Honestly, Dream couldn’t have been happier. This was a great improvement! Now that he wasn’t being plagued by sessions of torture and constant surveillence, he was freer than ever! He had everything he could’ve possibly needed right here in his cell.
He has his books.
His clock, long ago broken.
Boiling, soiled water that was barely drinkable.
A dwindling supply of rotting potatoes in the corner…
…he really was screwed, wasn’t he?

a long time ago, Quackity made a bet.
it had been a stupid decision, really, some consequence of vacuous whispers and drunken smiles, to make it; because if rule of house was to follow, you don’t make a bet you don’t know you can win.
maybe what kept bringing him back was the thrill, the psychological pleasure in watching the numbers grow higher under his fingers. scratching out day after day on the calendar, laughing at jokes that weren’t funny and clinking glasses of alcohol together, red liquid so oddly reminiscent of the blood he so regularly bathed in.
what was life if not another gamble?
Quackity may have already lost this bet, but he’ll be damned before he lets Schlatt win.
(or; quackity can't manage to get the revive book outta dream so he decides to make him a guard dog instead :])

Summary
The modified DC-10-10 is fully capable of flying with three engines disconnected, but the plane is already starting to bank to the left, which means they need to stabilize the aircraft before they can contact the control tower again. Which is easy enough. Annoying, but easy.
Except.
The plane doesn't respond.
Techno stares at the control column in his hands for a few moments, before pressing harder, trying to force the plane to react to their commands but getting nowhere, and when he watches Dream do the same, he turns to his friend, a sinking, horrible feeling growing in his gut at the sight of his confusion and mounting panic reflected in Dream's green eyes.
This plane is rocketing through the sky, 35,000 feet in the air, and they have no way to control it.

Summary
Reality distorts between his fingers. It slides through, slick with his saliva and blood and mixing with the sludge that was once his brain. He has been torn to shreds over and over and over and he doesn’t care. He cares. He doesn’t, because reality can change.
Reality can change.
Reality can move, it can bend and break.
But it cannot change its fundamentals, and Dream wishes it could.
Or:
c!Dream post prison but the arctic is hard enough on people who are used to it. To people who actually have layers to spare, to people who have body heat to give. He doesn’t have that.
He lets the sludge take him.
Or or:
c!Dream dissociating hard post prison break while in the arctic. He’s fine. Everything is fine.
But a few days later he visits Techno, and his thoughts aren’t really doing much to stop his stupid rambling.

The royal family of Antarctic empire isn’t exactly close.
Emperor Philza is always occupied; Tommy hasn’t seen Techno in months, and even if Wilbur is here, their relationship can be described to be strained at best.
The royal family doesn’t need to be close, however, it only needs to be balanced, like the pillars holding the country above their heads – as long as they are strong and steady, the Empire will be too. It’s the principle that held Tommy’s back straight and his shoulders broad through the years of hardships and trials of errors; through yet another formal meeting where his father’s gaze would look past him and where his brother’s words would be filled with poison that makes the deepest parts of his soul ache.
At that time, Tommy couldn't know that his family would find a replacement for him in the face of a commoner boy named Ranboo.
