Naruto is disgusted by the people around him. They all act as if Kurama's death wasn't a traumatic event for him. After all, he had just lost the person who had been with him since birth. They almost made fun of Naruto's grief.
So he decided to distance himself and leave Konoha. Naruto was tired of acting for the good of others and always silencing his own.

Mary Wesninski didn't have the chance to run away with Nathaniel during his tryout with Tetsuji. Nathan found out about her plans and killed her at Evermore. He would not give her the chance to escape and would make sure Nathaniel knew the consequences of trying. Nathaniel spends two extra years in Baltimore with his father and building a place for himself, unintentionally, at Ichirou's side. He's sent to Edgar Allan to train under Tetsuji when he is 12.He suffers and survives and builds his own life and family.
A/N THIS FIC IS NOT ABANDONDED. I have no plans to abandon this fic. Unfortunately, updates will continue to be slow and inconsistent, but I am continuing it.

I am upset with the lack of fics about Kilgharrah and Merlin. He literally kick starts the whole plot!
Other facts
Kilgharrah is one of the only people who has actively supported Merlin throughout his entire journey. When he disagrees, he says so but tends to leave it at that.
He's a cool fire-breathing dragon
He symbolizes Merlin's connection to his father and legacy, as well as fatal errors Merlin has made.
Dragonlord responsibilities are the only thing (besides love) that have ever come between Merlin and Arthur.
Merlin and Kilgharrah are CANONICALLY BROTHERS. It's on their wiki pages! Why is no one talking about this. I'm disappointed in you all. Come enjoy some brotherhood dynamics

Summary
For as long as Merlin can remember, there has been another voice in his head. Not that kind of voice that makes him crazy - he's not - but as if there is another person sharing his body. It might seems odd, but Merlin is use to it, so it's fine. He likes his voice anyways. After all, what kid wouldn't like having a best friend living in their head? It's only as time moves on that they learn that things aren't always as simple as they seem.
