Perhaps it was too nonsensical to put such feelings and thoughts onto one specific color. After all, they were just a variety of different tints used to resemble the vibrant blooming of the world. They were harmless.
Or, at least, they had been.
But as Rhaenyra Targaryen stared down the length of the Great Hall, at the lithe, pale figure of Alicent Hightower striding toward the High Table, she realized the color had become so much more than a thing for admiration.

Their behaviour takes him by surprise at every little turn, somehow they find a way to pull the rug from underneath him every single time. For better or for worse.But somehow, this strange person that he can barely even understand on a surface level, gives him exactly what he's been chasing all this time. Yet at the same time, as per usual with them, so much more than he expected.

Summary
HE was the perfect AI! Not exactly him as he was now, but maybe an earlier version would work. His learning algorithm was exceptionally powerful, after all. He was a master at learning and adapting, and once upon a time he had been very good at his core purpose. He could remember the days when he still got positive feedback and gentle guidance. He just needed to load up an early version from back when he'd been good at his job and present that to the humans!
Or, Caine tries make the humans happy by providing them with an earlier version of his code. Ends up accidentally becoming a dad.
(There isn't enough puppy Caine content so here I am contributing. Also the idea of Caine being a dad is objectively hilarious. I cannot and will not be stopped.)

Summary
An ablation study aims to determine the contribution of a component to an AI system by removing the component, and then analyzing the resultant performance of the system.
Deleting Caine was not the plan. And his absence led to a whole set of new problems, ranging from the destabilization of the Amazing Digital Circus to a more murderous AI trying to take control of the mainframe. Retrieving him was a matter of practicality. They might not trust him and were definitely wary of him, but his presence was their only way to survive.
Knowing that the humans that you love and desperately want to make happy instead fear and hate you (for admittedly good reasons) and only brought you back because they have no choice was not the best feeling for an AI never designed to handle emotions in the first place. It would be much better to only keep the parts that they need and discard the rest.

Kinger is basically evil after the death of his wife in the real world so he re - creates her in the computer they load themselves onto and change a few things without telling the other coders.
