It’s cold.
There’s a certain level of cold Dean can stand. California winters, the pathetic excuse the South uses to get out of school for the day, even the chill after it rains in the spring and fall. But this? Torture, to the highest degree. For God knows what reason, Sam conveniently forgot to mention that the temperatures across the Smokies—especially in the mountains—had dropped significantly in the last week, leaving both him and Castiel stranded in light jackets and jeans against forty degree weather.

Ellen and Jo Harvelle run Harvelle's Roadhouse, a bar that unintentionally becomes a beacon for wayward queer souls.
Her employees: Dean, the smartass runaway with a big heart and bigger mouth; Castiel, the college drop-out turned hippie; his (surprisingly heterosexual) trouble-making brother Gabriel; and Charlie, who has been told several times that the back room is not to be used for after-hours Dungeons & Dragons games.
But there's a lot of love in this place, and a new family for anyone who may otherwise be without.

I live off an inheritance, and sell weed on the side. After being saved from hell, Dean's old methods of coping aren't working anymore: he's not sexually attracted to anyone, and he's not interested in sex no matter how many times he climbs into bed with hot, naked women.
Sam is convinced that his brother is just depressed, but Dean knows this goes deeper than that. He still craves the intimacy that can make him feel safe.
Fortunately, Castiel is there to both understand and provide.

It’s Christmas Eve, and Dean, Sam and Castiel are snowed into a small town with a big festive spirit. They splurge on a fancy room in a B&B – hey, they deserve a treat. There’s a tiny plastic tree and a working TV, so they could perhaps overlook the lack of hot water and Dean having to bunk with Sam. Sleeping arrangements soon reach a happier equilibrium: Dean’s just cuddling Cas to keep him warm, he swears – the tingly feeling means nothing! Christmas Day arrives, and Cas still doesn’t have a gift for Dean. Dean doesn’t know what to give Cas, either. Sam has a few ideas, but will the other two truly understand what he means?

Summary
Historical AU. One by one, people disappear into the forest. A hunter named Dean is employed to bring them back, and eliminate the danger while he’s at it. His search leads him to Castiel, the forest’s resident deity: a shapeshifting stag, glowing with all the power of a thunderstorm. Thinking Castiel is the monster he’s been sent to kill, Dean falls prey to the forest’s magical defence and is transformed into a deer. Castiel commits to caring for him while he recovers – and Dean lets it happen, holding onto hope that Cas can make him human again. Meanwhile, other people embark on their own quests to save friends and family: Missouri, Dean’s surrogate mother; the young Native American schoolteacher, Elsie; Dean’s own brother, Sam, alongside Charlie, Elsie’s lady love. Like the others, they vanish without a trace amongst the trees. What is taking them? And will they ever come back out?
