During their annual two weeks at the cottage, Shane and Ilya both fall ill (and claim the other is responsible for it) resulting in two days of coughing and chugging electrolytes while neither of them admit how bad they feel. Even though he attempts to hide it, Yuna can hear her son coughing over the phone and decides to go check on him during his yearly 'silent retreat', entirely unaware that he had company. Or that his company came in the shape of Ilya Rozanov.

Even with the blinds pulled closed to keep the lights out she could still see Ilya Rozanov in her son’s bed; arms wrapped around him tightly. They looked asleep. Not just napping but deeply unconscious.Yuna supposed that was the effect of the half empty bottle of Nyquil on the nightstand.
She swallowed harshly, stepping closer to the bed. Her son was tucked against Ilya, face buried against his neck as a source of warmth and comfort. “Shane...” she whispered, shaking him gently. “Shane.”
He didn’t stir, breaths steady as he slept like a rock. Her eyebrows knitted together, gaze shifting to Ilya, who had his jaw resting on top of Shane’s head, one of his hands under his shirt to feel his skin against his palm.

“I’m leaving.” Merlin says, because this situation already cost him his Duolingo streak, and he’s too tired to deal with Arthur when the food Gaius is serving him looks like it belongs on a list of war crimes committed by the Canadian soldiers.
“Where to?” His mentor asks, and Merlin shrugs, before going to his room and packing his bag.
“India. Gaius, I have decided I don’t give a damn, especially not when having to eat that bland food. I’ll be back in three months, make sure Arthur doesn’t die when I’m out.”
“Merlin!” And maybe, if he was younger and didn’t travel back to the past last month, he would’ve actually cared about the ‘eyebrow of disapproval’.
Or, a 1500yo Merlin gets zapped to the past during his vacation to Cuba. You’d think he’s happy to see Arthur again. He’s not.

“I think that’s really brave,” El said gently.
“Yeah,” added Jonathan. “And overdue.”
He let the breath go. “Anyway, my therapist—Frank—he got me in touch with a lawyer. Government-sponsored. And before you freak out, no one’s in trouble. It’s... good. Or at least, it could be.”
Now came the part he wasn’t sure how they’d take.
“I’m filing for partial custody. Of you guys.”

He was at the end of his rope. It had been a long day. He’d slept in after a long, sleepless night and was late to work. The customers were extra bitchy. He blew a tire and had to replace it, somehow getting grease on his jeans. And now he made the mistake of letting out a mildly wistful sigh as Head Over Heels by Tears for Fears came on the radio as he drove Dustin to hellfire. Now, the kid would not leave him the fuck alone about this bullshit for the millionth time.
“She’s literally the perfect girl for you!”
The tactic he adopted a couple months or so back of truthfully saying that he liked someone else hadn’t worked. And usually, he’d ignore it. Turn up the radio. Dismiss it. Anything. But this time? This time he exploded with “It’s Eddie, okay?”

Gripping each other’s arms before battle was the most heartfelt touch they exchanged. Lingering soft touches were not done. Any lingering touch on his person could be interpreted as political movements. After all, Arthur’s body wasn’t his own. It never had been. He was Camelot’s first and foremost. Even above his own needs and wants.

You know, the usual manservant stuff.

Summary
Steve's been the sole owner and operator of Steve's Sweets in Bloomington, Indiana for the last few years- ever since he graduated and left Hawkins in his rearview mirror. His experience at Steve's Sweets has been perfect. He's had Robin Buckley, bookshop owner and his newfound platonic soulmate as his neighbor-to-the-right, and Mrs. Crossley, an elderly woman with a yarn shop, as his neighbor-to-the-left.
Mrs. Crossley is getting up in years, though, and her decision to sell her yarn shop leads to a change Steve was not anticipating, and one he certainly doesn't welcome.
Corroded Coffin Tattoo and Piercing is Steve's neighbor-to-the-left now, and with the new shop comes its owner, Eddie Munson. Eddie is brash, loud, and possibly the worst person that Steve's ever met.
Eddie just wants a new beginning. Steve just wants Eddie to stay out of the way.

Summary
If you were under eighteen, you were old enough to have known some of the worst horrors the earth could provide, but you still couldn’t get served in a damn Wetherspoons. When the Problem started, people barely took it seriously — mostly because the older generations didn’t believe in it. When a majority of them fell victims to Ghost-Touch, they started to realise just how in danger they really were. Safe havens cropped up all over Britain, and many people tried to leave the country. It paid to be selfish in a world like this, and few could be trusted.
The ones with Talent had the best chance at survival. The ones that weren’t so afraid they locked themselves inside their houses the moment the sun began to creep down towards the horizon. The ones who could make a living by finding Sources and trading them for supplies that just weren’t common anymore.
Individually, no one ever really lasted very long after dark. So it was a good job they stumbled across each other when they did.
AU in which the Problem started later and grew out of control more quickly. Merges apocalypse tropes with the Problem universe we already know.

Thomas takes the notebook and pen, noting how much care Edwin takes in making sure they do not touch. He immediately opens it up to the first page, scribbles down his first note, 'missed you.' and turns it towards Edwin whose lips go thin.
"This doesn't pertain to the case." Edwin says mildly.

“I already resent you,” he said. “It makes no difference to me whether I do it from a distance or the comfort of my own living room.”
A bad case and broken leg leave Lucy no choice but to return to Portland Row until she recovers. Lockwood is definitely not using this as an opportunity to persuade her to come back for good, because that would be unfair. And he never plays dirty.
