fanfics so good they deserve a podcast episode
Hello authors! If you're wondering what your fics are doing here, don't worry because I will explain everything.
I currently cohost a fanfiction podcast called 'Canonically Incorrect' where we talk about everything and anything fanfiction. Our main content is reading the best of the best fanfics, and that's where you come in! I've added your fic to this list because it has been recommended at one point to read. If you don't wish to be on this list, just let me know and I will gladly remove your fic.
Since AO3 does not have a direct message system, you can find us on Twitter (@CanonICPod), Insta (@canonicallyincorrectpod), Tumblr (canonicallyincorrect), or email us ([email protected]) if you'd like to communicate. We also interview fanfiction authors about specific fics, or fanfictions in general. If you are at all interested in that and would like to be on the pod, please email us!
If you wish to listen to the show, we are on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and anywhere else you listen to podcasts under the name Canonically Incorrect.
I hope this answers all of your questions, if you have any more please feel free to reach out to us on any of the platforms I've mentioned above. Thank you!

Summary
"At any rate, I am not going to marry soon," Colin grumbled, sending his older brothers a glare. Then, with a slight rise in his voice for finality, he said just about the stupidest thing of his life. "And I am certainly not going to marry Penelope Featherington!"
“Oh.”
And so begins a lengthy love story... 7 years later. But what if we delve deeper into those 7 years? What if we get to watch Penelope and Colin change and mold as individuals and as a friendship throughout that time? What if Polin was the slow burn I so very crave, my Dear Reader?
Read and find out.

Summary
Homecoming AU.
Ben and May divorced before Peter’s parents died, so when Ben is murdered Peter goes into foster care. It takes just a tiny taste of superpowers for Peter to decide he doesn’t want to put up with his horrible foster father anymore—the streets are infinitely more appealing. All he wants is to be Spider-Man anyway.
So he leaves.
Simple.
Simple, that is, until Iron Man needs Spider-Man’s help. Peter isn’t about to turn down an opportunity to fight alongside Tony Freaking Stark, but he also isn’t going to let his hero know that his recruit is a fifteen-year-old homeless dropout. So they strike a deal. Peter will help Tony. In return, the mask stays on.
And that’s when things get complicated.

Summary
What if, when Petunia Dursley found a little boy on her front doorstep, she took him in? Not into the cupboard under the stairs, not into a twisted childhood of tarnished worth and neglect—what if she took him in?
Petunia was jealous, selfish and vicious. We will not pretend she wasn’t. She looked at that boy on her doorstep and thought about her Dudders, barely a month older than this boy. She looked at his eyes and her stomach turned over and over. (Severus Snape saved Harry’s life for his eyes. Let’s have Petunia save it despite them).
Let’s tell a story where Petunia Dursley found a baby boy on her doorstep and hated his eyes—she hated them. She took him in and fed him and changed him and got him his shots, and she hated his eyes up until the day she looked at the boy and saw her nephew, not her sister’s shadow. When Harry was two and Vernon Dursley bought Dudley a toy car and Harry a fast food meal with a toy with parts he could choke on Petunia packed her things and got a divorce.

Richie and Eddie bust ghosts, pine hopelessly, and get tangled up in the winding red thread of fate:
The sun is perfect when they finally start filming, just low enough to cast everything in a golden sort of light that almost makes the building look beautiful. Eddie steadies the tripod and gives the thumbs up and then they’re away and Richie has his game face on.
“This is your faithful host speaking, your courageous convoy to all that is chilling and creepy, Richie Trashmouth Tozier.” Richie says, tone deadly serious. “Tonight, we venture beyond the veil, mystery lovers, to a place so disturbing and terrifying my co-host Eddie has refused to venture inside.”
“This is mis-representation.” Eddie protests from behind the camera. “I’m not scared of ghosts, but I draw the line at bacterial infection.”

Let me tell you, you do not need to have watched Merlin to fall in love with this fic. Because I have no wanted a single episode of the British fantasy-adventure TV show, but I had such a good time with this. Now I will say, I am a big Dickens/Christmas Carol fan, so that may have been where my bias lies, but still, I really enjoyed how the author adapted it to fit the lore of Merlin. Everything was perfect, from the ghosts of Yule past, present and yet to come to the spans of time in between nights with Arthur. I will say, the ending is my favorite for Arthur's speech alone. I'm surprised this isn't a classic in the Merlin fandom by now as this should be required reading every holiday season.

Tim Burton, Eddie Perfect and Scott Brown, literally anyone pick this up and make it the second movie. The characterization is perfect, the storyline is exact the movie I'd want it to be, and I didn't know I needed it, but humanized Beetlejuice! With feelings! Wow! The conflict and emotions around Beetlejuice's death between him and Lydia is so well written and I believe fully that those are the feelings that they would be feeling, and that final scene with his mom and the curse being broken by ripping the card in half is perfection. I can't believe that you didn't have a full idea of what the ending was going to be when you started, but you ended it in the most satisfying way. Now everyone gets a happy ending, even Beetlejuice.

Summary
Victor Nikiforov, aka Grand Prix, knows that he's Yakov's most skilled hitman. That's just a fact and he isn't in the habit of arguing with facts.
He also knows that he's the only one Yakov trusts, period. In this case though, he's the only one Yakov can rely on to take care of the elusive sniper Eros, who kills Yakov's henchmen left and right.
What Victor doesn't know, however, is that Eros' little vendetta is not a matter of coincidence, but pure premeditation, and thus... he falls into a trap that a rookie like Little Fairy could see from a mile away.
He falls in lust.
And then in love.

LITERALLY EVERYTHING GOOD ABOUT A CRIME AU/ENEMIES-TO-LOVERS FIC! Having to kill each other but falling in love instead, Victor sprinting to Yuuri after he knew he was hurt, THE HOTEL ROOM KEY. It was all perfect. Victor's characterization was absolute perfection and Yuuri/Eros is something I didn't know I needed, but they interact with Victor incredibly in their own separate ways. They were so much fun to read apart, but not as fun as when they were together. Every interaction, not even just the smut, but Victor kissing Yuuri's scars and the beach scene and Victor crying because Yuuri disappeared is everything! The cherry on top was the proposal and marriage. I want nothing but a long life of happiness and assasinations for them both.

Bookmarker's Notes
I read this fanfiction in the same month I turned 24, and it sent me into an emotional crisis of living my life in the best way to make sure I am surrounded by my loved ones and those most special to me in my final days. This fic was written before the Disney movie "Christopher Robin" but I would much rather watch a movie like this. Christopher Robin at the end of his life rather than the middle, his friends celebrating him and just being with him, reminding him of his childhood and his time in the Hundred Acre Woods. Winnie the Pooh is the perfect amalgamation of innocence and joy and I would ask for no better ending for Christopher Robin.
