Chapter Text
One of the last things that anyone who presents as an omega would opt for is, arguably, living on their own in a recluse part of a forest, away from society. Not even an alpha or beta would be willing to live that way.
To put it simply, forests are scary places. No matter which forest of which kingdom, they're always the primary spots for rogues to wander and carry out fights. Many innocent people go into them, only to either never return or get back to their homes in horrendous states.
Although, for one kingdom, such cases have decreased greatly since a few years ago. Yet, no one knows exactly why.
Well, to be precise, people do know why. But, no one can exactly prove it.
The only proof they can go off of are shared tales from victims of how this fairy looking young boy had found them in grave states and decided to help them, without any reason nor with a desire to be paid back.
People say he comes out of nowhere and after helping them, he makes them fall asleep and the next time they wake up, they find themselves in front of their kingdom's gates, with the guards shaking them completely awake.
Nobody has been able to ask the boy what his name is nor have they managed to get any of his personal information out of him. All they knew is that he's 21 years old and that he's knowledgeable in the field of medicinal herbs, potions, injuries, etc.
Everyone knows of his existence, and practically everyone believes in it due to the return of many loved ones all bandaged up, but even then, the boy is an absolute unknown.
—
Lee Felix is a 21 years old omega who lives in a very much isolated part of a giant forest. One that essentially creates a whole barrier between the Stray Kingdom and other kingdoms.
He lives alone, but it wasn't always that way.
He only began a life on his own 4 years ago, when he lost both of his parents. At that time, he lived with his alpha dragon mother and his omega wolf father in a small village.
His parents had a small business of medicine and potions, which kept them afloat for the most part. They didn't have much, but they were a happy little family nonetheless.
His mother, being a dragon, was always extremely cautious with hiding her distinctive dragon aura and features, a habit that she rubbed off on Felix ever since he was little. She knew of the dangers that came with being known as a dragon and she didn't want any of that to affect her son.
As a result, Felix always thought that by being part dragon, he would be discriminated and not accepted by the other villagers, so he listened to his mother's ways and stuck with his wolf half only. Though his omega half brought along some unwanted interactions with a few people, at least nothing truly horrendous had ever happened to him.
But, all of that came tumbling down on him when he just turned 17.
It was right after his birthday, he got back home after helping an elderly couple carry some fruits to their house. He was in a really good mood that time, because the couple were incredibly friendly and even gave him some treats to thank him.
However, once he opened the door to his home, his world came crashing down on him.
The house had clearly been ransacked and there was blood everywhere, yet no shadow of his parents could be found.
The 17 years old Felix, all the while crying his eyes out and having a hard time breathing, called out the names of his parents relentlessly. Any villager who had heard him would've certainly thought he'd gone bezerck.
But he didn't stop, not until he abruptly heard a loud creak behind him.
Instinctively, he turned around, only to find himself staring at a bunch of villainous looking alphas, two of which were holding his mother and father, who were severely beat up, to the point that Felix had a hard time recognizing them.
It didn't take long for him to figure out why this had happened, especially when his mother's carefully hidden dragon features and aura were clearly out.
He was frozen in place at the time and he most likely would've stayed that way, had it not been for his mother's sudden gust of wind she did with her wings.
It made the alphas loose their balance, but it didn't make the two alphas who held them in place loose their grip.
And even to this day, Felix still remembers his mother's first and last roar ever directed to him…
"RUN! NOW!"
With that, he ran.
He ran non-stop, all the way to a dense and dark forest, and by then, the sun was setting, making the forest all the darker.
But the darkness didn't scare him and so he kept on running. He ran into a couple of trees and he stumbled on quite a few stuff along the way, grazing his knees, his hands, his head… But none of that slowed him down.
Eventually, he reached a place in the woods that was practically dead silent, save for the rustling of the leaves.
He knew in his heart that he had reached a location that the alphas most likely wouldn't follow him to, in fact, at that point, he had long lost those murderous alphas.
But…
'Now what?'
That was the one thought Felix had when he finally stopped running.
His adrenaline and panic ceased down, allowing his mind to clear up. He could finally think straight again, yet, he wished he hadn't been able to.
He realised that he was on his own.
No parents. No friends. No neighbors.
The only one he had… Was himself
'Is… This it…?'
That night, he curled up underneath a bush, hugging and crying himself to a sleep of exhaustion. Through such action, he officially came to terms with reality.
There will no longer be anyone who will be there for him, he'll have to rely on himself. He will have to comfort himself during hard times, because there'll be no one else to hold his hand and tell him they'll be there for him. He'll have to wipe his own tears and quickly get over this situation, if he wants to start building a life for himself…
.
.
.
"Huhhhh!"
Jolting awake from the nightmare, Felix could feel his heart racing and his blood rushing through his body.
After coming back to reality and realising that he's in his wood cabin, he steadied his breathing before wiping off the sweat on his forehead. Not that it helped, since his entire body is covered in it
'I should go wash myself.'
—
At the lake where he usually goes whenever he's in need of water, Felix finds himself relaxing by the minute. The silence that surrounds himself certainly helps with the naturally calming atmosphere of the water that he's submerged in as well.
It's still dawn and the sun has barely come out yet, therefore, it's the perfect time to go out. Rogues generally aren't early birds, so the chances of encountering one this early are quite slim.
Although, there's always that little bit of possibility for things to go wrong. Hence, Felix is never one to leave out a chance for risk to happen.
He never forgets to bring his scent blocking pendant, his sleeping sachet and his jet black cloak with him at all times. He's had one too many encounters to know what's necessary when going out
'Phew, I really can't ask for more after that bad of a nightmare!' Thought the hybrid as he dried himself and got dressed.
And just as he's walking back home, he suddenly halts at the sound of howls and growls being carried through the forest, which, ultimately, makes Felix go in search of the source out of instinct.
The wolf and dragon hybrid isn't sure since when he began to care about injured people in the forest, maybe ever since he got himself established, but what he does know is that he's become incapable of ignoring them.
Even though the gruesome death of his parents made him fear others and not want anything to do with them, deep down, he just knows that it'd be too heartless of him to not assist those in need of help.
After all, what do they have to do with the cruel demise of his family?
'The sounds are getting louder.' Thought Felix as he kept on running. The cape of his cloak is getting blown crazy and his pendant is somewhat tugging against his neck, but Felix pays no mind to them.
At least, not until he's reached the origin of those sounds.
Hiding behind a tree, Felix could see an intense fight unfold. A fight that's unlike any other he's seen
'A pack of 9 alpha rogues against a pack of 7 wolves. Now that's something new!'
Usually, the situation is a small pack of rogues against a single wolf, if not, 2-3 wolves at most. Never has Felix seen a fight between two big packs
'The pack of 7 is in trouble.'
From what Felix could see from his hiding spot, the pack of 7 wolves, at least, what he presumes to be a pack judging from their shared scent, are in quite a dire situation.
All of them are still conscious, but 2 of them are unable to get back on their legs, another 2 are being held down forcefully, 1 is still fighting against some rogues with his sword and the last 2 are being completely cornered by the rest of the rogues, though they are both putting up a fight as well.
Even from a distance, Felix could easily make out the rank of each wolf and what he really doesn't like is the fact that the one of the two wolves who are cornered is an omega.
Not to mention, it's a stunning omega, despite his disheveled appearance
'No wonder those alphas are releasing these disgusting pheromones.'
The cigarette smoke scent is absolutely unreal and it almost makes Felix cough. Fortunately, he suppresses himself from doing so.
The last thing he needs is to redirect the attention of the rogues
'I should see if they're ok to save.'
With that in mind, Felix then switches to his dragon vision, allowing him to see if the 7 wolves are either good-hearted or ill-intended. One of the few handy perks that comes with his other half
'So these guys are ok to approach.'
Having seen that, he immediately makes his eyes go back to normal and decides to take initiative.
He covers up his nose with his cloak and opens up the sachet, releasing its sleep inducing aroma, which has an immediate effect on both the rogues and the wolves.
By carefully keeping an eye on them, Felix sees that the rogues succumb to the drowsiness much quicker than the wolves. And from the looks of it, the remaining wolves are just about to fall asleep as well
'Think it's alright to close my sachet now.'
With that judgement in mind, he closes his sachet and proceeds to uncover his nose. Then, he goes back to watching the remaining wolves who have yet gone to sleep, which by now has come down to that omega, surprisingly
'Fall asleep! Please!'
While Felix preoccupied himself with praying, he forgot about being careful. Thus, when the omega suddenly turned towards his direction, he was too careless to hide his head away quick enough.
They locked eyes with each other instantly and only one word rung through their heads at the sight of the other…
MATE
And with that, the omega finally gave up against his desire to rest.
Meanwhile, Felix froze at his spot with a frown. He has just found his mate and if his deduction is truly correct, then the other 6 wolves could also be his mates.
He's not sure whether this is a blessing or a curse.
For one, he's undoubtedly happy to meet his destined mate/mates, despite the circumstances being less than desirable. But on the other hand, he knew long ago that no matter who his mate might be, as long as it isn't another dragon, he wouldn't go with them.
It's heartbreaking and arguably heartless of him. But deep down, he reasons that it's for the better.
Firstly, he finds it hard to trust anyone and distrust among mates would bring nothing but trouble. Secondly, if he does go, God only knows if the tragedy of his parents will repeat on him. And thirdly, who would want a dragon as their mate?
'Just patch them up and figure out where they're from.'
Using his dragon powers, he controlled the wind to carry the 7 wolves for him, taking them to his cabin. Once there, he sprayed the entire cabin with his scent blocking spray, just for safety measures
'Time to get to work now.'
.
.
.
It was a long and tedious process. All 7 of them had pretty bad injuries, but from what Felix could see, none of them were severe enough to cause long lasting damage and neither was there any vital internal damage, thankfully.
At most, it's deep cuts with the sword.
However, some of them did end up losing a concerning amount of blood and seeing no other effective alternative, Felix made a cut on his wrist, extracting some of his own blood, mixed in with some sore relieving potion and made those sleeping wolves drink it down.
Dragon blood, as he has come to know, is very valuable. In fact, every part of the dragon, be it the scales, the wings, the saliva, etc.
Every single part of a dragon has immense properties. They can either heal, improve the immune system, boost strength, provide greater knowledge, etc.
All of the dragon knowledge Felix could ever ask for naturally came to him when he turned 18 and since then, he restricted himself from having to use any part of his body, unless absolutely necessary
'Now, to see where they're from.'
Usually, at this stage, Felix would have to wake the victim up in order to ask them, but this time, things were made easier for him, as he quickly found the distinctive crest of the Stray Kingdom on the sword of the alpha, who had been fighting the rogues by himself
'Crest on the sword. Must be nobles then.'
Having figured that much, it became clear to Felix that there's absolutely no way he'll be with them. If they're from the nobility, then the less accepted he'd be, since he would only bring shame to whatever their noble name is due to the fact that he's a dragon
'If being a dragon makes me unwanted by society, then what would it do to the name of these nobles?'
Wiping away a few tears that began Rolling down his face, the hybrid quickly recomposed himself, before finishing up the work.
Then, he once again controlled the wind to carry them all to the gates of the Kingdom. But, unlike all the times before, he followed them, until the forest ended.
He isn't sure what made him so anxious to the point that he wanted to follow them himself and make sure they're alright, even though he knows for a fact that no harm will come to them as long as he's controlling the wind, but he just couldn't help himself.
Perhaps it's the fact of being mates.
Who knows.
Once they reached the point where the trees ended and the Kingdom's gates came to view though, Felix stopped his steps and stayed still, watching the wind gently lay the wolves down, right in front of the guards
'I guess this is the first and last time we'll ever see each other…'
Little does he know, that these particular wolves he's saved, will soon become the ones destined to never give up on him and stick by his side like glue.
