    “W–what’s wrong?” the stranger croaked. Then his ragged breaths picked up as his eyes widened and scanned the room, not relaxing until looking at something behind him—his brothers.

    The action was so familiar.

    Donnie’s grip tightened on his bo. His mind reeled. His stomach twisted.

    This had to be a trick. A trap. Some kind of agent sent by the Kraang.

    But his name. His voice. The deep-blue eyes, half-hidden under grime and pain.

    Surviving in the wilderness really isn't all it's cracked up to be.

    After being gone for a year, John Dory returns to the Troll Tree to find it completely empty. Save for one troll: His baby brother, Branch. Thinking the trolls and the rest of his family dead, he sets off once again to the Neverglade Trail, this time, with his baby brother in tow. Fueled by fear, guilt, and voices from the past he just can't seem to escape, he wonders if he made the right decision.

    But he promised his brother he would never leave him again. So he wouldn't.

    Besides, he was never known for his great decisions anyways.

    (Based on the song "Great Decisions" by Judah & the Lion)

    Or... I needed to write more John Dory and Branch ANGST, so here's my rewrite of canon, where John Dory goes back and raises Branch out in the wilderness, and other subsequent shenanigans. Let's see how this goes, shall we?
