Max expected to never see her again, despite her promise. He knew aliens operated differently than humans, and most hadn’t bothered to learn that human lifespans were short compared to most others. But Max was fine with that. He had come to live the easy life: a life full of one-night stands and broken promises.
Until she showed up with two bundles of humans in her arms.
She explained that their one night shared together was all she needed to start a new life. She had fraternal twins: two boys. She hadn’t named them. She was only there to drop them off. Anodites weren’t built for that kind of life; Verdona wasn’t ready to be a parent.
