Ilya sounded completely unfazed, like Shane’s worst nightmare was a random Tuesday afternoon practice.
Shane was not going down this way, he had dignity, and he deserved eye contact while his heart was ripped to shreds.
“Ilya,”
His attempt gained nothing but a grunt from the man in front of him. So he tried again.
“Ilya.”
A hum this time and a small shove with his feet was all he got. Now he was pissed.
“Rozanov!”
“What!” Ilya’s eyes darted between his face and where they were connected at the couch, like that had been what upset Shane, the game of footsie.

Years into their relationship, Shane ends up wine-warm in Ilya’s lap, kissing every inch of his face he can reach and out of nowhere he brings up Vegas 2014. The penthouse. The elevator. The text Shane almost sent. Seeing his husband quiet, vulnerable, and still aching over it, Ilya stops joking for once and promises that it'll never happen again. They don't have sex, just kiss, Ilya kissing the living fuck out of Shane, making up for lost kisses.

After a great win against Toronto, Shane is walking out of the locker room with Ilya, Wyatt, Troy, and Luca, it’s Luca that mentions that 420 is on Monday and since they have three days off as of tomorrow, he asks if they’d like to come to his place and smoke some weed with him and some of the other— younger— players.
“No, but thank you,” Shane says first before Ilya is looking at him with puppy dog eyes. “Ilya, no.”
“Shane, yes,” Ilya smiles. “It will be great bonding moment, yes?”
OR
Shane smokes weed for the first time and has no issues with loving up on his husband in front of their friends.
