“Do you have scales?” Arthur asks. “Wings?”
The cow at Merlin’s side begins munching on the heads of his handful of wheat.
“Oh, I see," he says, "You’re an oaf."
“What did you call me?”
“An oaf. A pumpkin short of its seeds. A turnip with no greens or roots.”
“How dare you.”
“Quite plainly, I thought, but I suppose given your intelligence or lack thereof, I might have been more direct the first time.”
Arthur draws himself up to his full height, aghast.
“You,” he says. “Are the strangest, most repulsive hatchling I have ever met, and I should like nothing more than to escape your company immediately.”
(Pride & Prejudice AU - Lady Ygraine asks her dear friend Lady Nimueh to help her children get off their asses and strike out into the marriage market. With her help, Arthur soon finds himself introduced to a mysterious, magical man who calls himself a botanist.)

Summary
No one else knew the boy that lived in a high tower and rode a horse and wielded a sword. No one else knew how brave he was, or how he protected Merlin when he didn’t have to. No one else saw him, and after a while, Merlin starts to wonder if he ever saw him, either. Or, maybe Wart was someone only he could see.
Maybe Wart was only real for Merlin.

Summary
With Camelot readying for the upcoming gathering of rulers of the Southern Kingdoms to discuss peace, Uther has tasked Arthur with an additional duty: befriend the Prince of Essetir and learn anything he can of King Balinor, and of magic, and of dragons, that might be of interest should the treaty not succeed.
That's easier said than done, as he and Prince Merlin don't exactly hit it off immediately. But, befriending Merlin and learning of magic and life in Essetir leads Arthur down the paths of discovering long held secrets surrounding his own birth, and his mother's ill health, and his father's hatred of all things magic.
Adding even more complications to the mix are rowdy knights, frustrating princesses, a possible traitor in their midst, and an overly-verbose dragon; not to mention the burgeoning and peculiar feelings for his fellow prince that Arthur struggles to put a name to.
