Summary
Nemo wakes alone.
He’s in the grotto, he recognizes dimly, and of course he is. He’s still at his workbench, even. The pieces of the orrery are stacked in neat piles before him, contrasted by spare sheets of paper scattered haphazardly where he’s abandoned each in turn.
* * *
Dakkar wakes alone, in the darkness, at his workbench.
He takes one deep, deep breath, wipes his face, and gets to work.

Summary
“Oh, right.” Sarm did not sound like this was a pleasant thing to have to be saying. He’d sort of hoped it could stay subtext. His voice, which was starting to become more familiar, was pained with worry and hope. “Also, hello, I’m not actually your twin, I’m a faerie who replaced your twin as an infant because I needed to be raised in the mortal realm, nice to meet you.”
Asatur nodded, trying to think of something to say that wasn’t pitiful, or callous, or sappy, and ended up swallowing a lump in his throat. But that was okay, Sarm knew him, he got it, it would be fine, wouldn’t it?
“Are your hands going to be okay?” Asatur flinched at how small his voice was, but maybe it needed to be that way, so Sarm would know he was worried. Because he was. He wasn’t sure, still, if he should be, but he was.

Summary
Mindy Park is rapidly realising that the first intelligent extraterrestrial to make contact with the human race thinks they’re fucking stupid. She’s pretty sure that Dr Grace isn’t accurately translating half the things Rocky is saying, but most of what he is telling her is that Rocky has a better way of doing what NASA wants them to do, and honestly, it seems like Rocky is mostly right. She probably doesn’t want to know what the other half of what Grace’s new alien friend is saying, if the things that are making it through what she’s calling the “middle school teacher filter” are “why would you do something the dumb way when you could do it the right way”.
or,
Mindy has a headache, Grace has trauma, Mark is confused and Rocky is wondering how humans made it in to space when they're all so, so dumb.

Summary
Its voice is beauty, otherworldly, nothing it has never experienced before. How wonderful it is. A quarter of its size, and yet so sleek and quick. It curls around the other before they both cease moving. They regard one another.
Do you care to dance with me? it asks hopefully.
Of course! the other laughs, a chiming sort of laugh that is the most beautiful sound it has ever heard.

Summary
Grace is dying. He's been dying half this trip. There's no point in ignoring it, though he and Rocky try to anyway. One particularly bad day, he finds he can't shake the thought of Yao's gun, hidden away down in storage and calling to him.
---
"There's a gun on the ship.
A gun on the ship for one very specific reason. A reason that Grace has spent years running away from, but one that keeps chasing after him. "Bookmarked by starling27

Summary
Rozanov made a dismissive noise. “No, no, I will pick you up. Send me your address.”
“I’m not giving you my home address.”
“Why not!”
“Because you’ll probably post it on social media to psych me out before our next game.”
That made Rozanov laugh. “It is good idea,” he said. Stopped laughing. Started again. Blew out a breath like he had to get himself together. “I might do this to you,” he allowed, “but you have nice boyfriend living with you now. I would not do this to him. You are safe.”
In which Ilya Rozanov adopts himself into Scott and Kip's household and refuses to leave. Kip finds this very sweet. Scott is going to kill him.
