Summary
The clink of his drink order being set down has Sylvain swiveling back to the bar. He’s breathing weird. Shallow, and uncomfortable. Dying? Maybe he’s dying. Desperate fingers smudge across the cheap crystal; he takes a good sip and prays it’ll fix him.
It does nothing—not with the movement in his periphery as the man takes a seat at the bar. He does, at least, respect customary etiquette, leaving a stool and a chasm between them. Still, Sylvain wonders if he’ll manage the proximity.

Sandwiched between his roommates on the subway, Sylvain mapped out the possible outcomes of the night:
One. He could simply black out. It was expected of him and it was very, very easy. Chug it all down and become reduced to a stain on Dimitri’s couch. Nobody would try to talk to him.
Two. Be normal, so normal. Talk to everyone and everyone like it’s the hottest corporate happening on the block. Laugh and apologize for the spit pooling in his fake teeth. Say he’s happy to see each and every person, and not explain why.
Three. Find Felix.
The train lurched suddenly. Yeah. Maybe not. Maybe we don’t even have to think about that right now.
