Summary
Grace was a regular middle school science teacher.
Key word is was.
That was before everything that had happened to him. Grace had gotten himself stuck in a sticky web that was becoming his new life. Willingly, or unwillingly, he was too trapped in it now to turn back.

Or, Grace accidentally gains spider powers, and now he's got all these responsibilities or something. Will he become a superhero, or will he run away from this like he has with everything else? Read and find out.

Summary
Simon believes he's hallucinating. That the man he keeps seeing and the pristine ship he repeatedly finds himself in aren't real. That that monster is fucking with his head.
Grace believes he's got a lot more on his plate than just the fate of the earth, and he's not sure which task is more impossible: stopping the astrophage without any memories, or saving one man in another universe.
OR
By getting yanked between universes, Grace gets to experience the horrors, Simon gets to save the stars, and Rocky gets two (2!) humans for the price of one.

"-so I think, and here's the part I'm really afraid of, I think ninety nine point nine percent of humanity got turned into blood soup," Grace says.
"And Simon currently trapped in human blood soup, question?" Rocky asks.
He lets his head fall back and closes his eyes. "Hes in the soup. Hes so in the soup Rocky."

"I'm ready." Simon whispered into the still air. The combing stopped, and Simon mourned the loss immediately.

To his surprise, though, the stranger doesn’t fight back. He puts his hands up and stares at Simon with wide eyes. “Hey, um,” he starts, “I know you probably can’t, like, understand me—but, uh, I was trying to help you. You looked a little—I kind of thought you were a corpse, to be honest.”
A corpse? Simon squints. The organs at his throat gasp for air strangely and then, failing that, close up with an air of finality. Briefly, he allows himself a glance back at the panel that leads to where he had been, but only sees a white wall smudged with the blood he’s still coated in.
“Yeah, you were kind of free-floating.” The guy swallows. “In space.”
Simon wants to squeeze the life out of him for saying such absolute bullshit—to his face, no less. Except his eyes still burn from that light. That blazing light. It couldn’t have been what he thought it was.

or: Doctor Ryland Grace brings what he assumes is a dead body onto the Hail Mary. One small issue: the body isn’t actually as dead as he thought, and Simon is freaking out.

Summary
Sergeant Colt Seavers, Doctor Ryland Grace, and Convict Simon Fleisher didn’t sign up for this mission, but it turns out they’re the only ones that could do the job.
Simon is an ex-terrorist, promised a clean record for his cooperation.
Ryland is a middle school teacher who accidentally became a leading authority on astrophage, who they had to physically subdue in order to get aboard the mission.
And Colt is just a former Air Force pilot who wanted to save his little brother.
When the facility explosion takes out the only people on Earth who can save their sun, Stratt is left with her last option: The C Team
