Summary
Perihelion's presence bears down on me in the feed. I do not think that it can read my mind, but it feels like it is trying to. I am bleeding something into the feed, but I do not know what. I am being scrutinized, picked apart, ogled.
What?
All of my organics feel tense. I… want to watch the videos you gave me.
Do you require my permission to do so?
No.
Then watch them.

Summary
It is dusk, during the mild early nights of the fallow season, and we— 1.0 and I— are playing Keep Away with the Mensah children when 1.0 abruptly utters, "This unit's critical components have reached their designated life expectancy," and drops like a stone.
Then it says, "WHAT THE FUCK."
Three has to hit the reset switch on a forced-obsolescence process. The switch is in an extremely inconvenient place inside Murderbot. Like, wrist-deep.
Three is feeling so normal about this. It is. It is.

SecUnit Three has been free for a very short time and is not doing well. As it tries to navigate the first personal request of its life, it makes lists. The request is more emotionally catastrophic than it realized, and there is probably a very, very good reason why Murderbot initially said no…

Summary
Most of the code I write is code that I can evolve on the fly. My code to delete me out of security footage, for instance, was something I'd built up over months, adjusting it to different proprietary SecSystems as I encountered them. But this was different: my comm and feed protections were what kept me from falling under anyone else's control, and I couldn't afford to have them be anything but perfect, which was why I was here. If I wanted to fix this vulnerability properly, and I did, there were things that I needed to do that I couldn't do without help.

In the aftermath of getting hacked, Murderbot asks ART to help it make sure it can't be hacked the same way again. As it turns out, applying and testing a security patch is a little more challenging than usual when the vulnerable system is, you know, your own brain.
