Captured in one single moment in time, by someone who loves him. Forever seen through Rocky’s perspective, because he turned back.
A hero embarks on a journey and returns forever changed. Ryland Grace doesn’t fit that mold, isn’t a hero. Might not return. Might not want to.
But Rocky thinks he’s brave.

Something hard catches on Suguru’s hand as he cradles Satoru’s head, and his whole body shakes as he realizes it’s that knife. His brain stutters over that, eyes now locked on to the sight of it stuck there as his hand hovers over it, shaking near the handle.
There’s only so much he can manage at this moment, and that… he can’t deal with that. Can’t imagine pulling that from Satoru’s head and seeing what comes after. The ringing in his ears hasn’t lessened since he reached Satoru’s body, the senselessness of what is happening hasn’t quite reached him yet.

It hurt going down, his throat seized halfway in a choke, but he squeezed his eyes shut and forced it down. He teared up at the force of it, gasping for breath when it finally burst into his stomach. It tasted vile on his tongue. But he hardly notices it as he feels it uncoil from his stomach into his very bones - down to his soul.
Sweat drips down his brow, half fearful it was a mistake - his body would reject it. Instead, though, the very opposite happens. It swirls about his soul, as if it were a cat purring, weaving between his legs. As if it recognizes the fragments of his soul as its own.
