“What,” a date? Plus one? Steve doesn’t even know where to start. “What is a sex pistol?”
“What,” Eddie says, parroting Steve’s confused tone back at him in a way that sounds unfairly boneheaded, “am I doing here,
Steve?”

Summary
In 1983, Nancy tells Steve to run. He does. In 1986, he follows Jason Carver, but when he finds Eddie in the boathouse and he tells him of something impossible, Steve believes him.
Steve squints at him. He’s a drunk who forgets the name of the girl of the day. “What’re you going to do? Hand him in to the cops?”
Jason narrows his eyes. “I’m going to make him pay. He’s killed another. On the news, did you see? I need to stop him before —”
“— Jason,” he cuts him off, “man, this is…”
Bitterly, Steve thinks he’s beautiful, rotten and beautiful and Steve’s perfect mirror if maybe he were braver. He would have revenge against his mother; against the monster; against his father. Revenge against the line where parent and monster blurs, where wombs and umbilical cords knot into this unnameable terror. If only Steve were braver. “Harrington,” says Jason, “it’s Chrissy.” And he says it like Steve might once have said Nancy and it stings like something old and foreign and he chases that escape from the numbness, something that isn’t numb but sharp and painful. “It’s Chrissy.”

Summary
Lucas is the man of the group, he knows this. He's got to be the man, like Steve, and wear polos and khakis and come between evil and the weak and be a lady killer and a charming, funny, sweet guy. Like Steve who has started hanging out with Eddie Munson and getting piercings and wearing eyeliner and not being the man Lucas thought he was.
“Steve is that an earring?” says Dustin, at one of his highest pitches, slap bang in the middle of one of Eddie’s tirades.
Everyone pauses. Number one, you never interrupt Eddie, especially not during D&D. Number two, what? (Lucas has strong suspicions he can’t let Max ever find out about this, or she’s going to break-up with him and become a full-time Steve admirer.)
They all lean forwards.
Steve shifts slightly uncomfortably, but he looks amused. “Yeah.” He shrugs. And there it is, a single tiny silver hoop in his left ear. Lucas stares, amazed.
“You’re a guy,” says Lucas, without thinking about it.
Steve only laughs. “I am aware, Lucas, thank you.”

Summary

Eddie mutters something quietly. Something that sounds a lot like, "Exactly..."
OR
It's been a year since their successful attack on Vecna. Though everyone else is able to go back to normal, Eddie struggles—goes on to develop a drinking habit. After Steve suggests a lake trip with the kids to help him out of his rut, Eddie reluctantly agrees. But his reasons for why may not be what Steve originally intended.
