Summary
“And what are you in the mood for, Louis?” Lestat could have fallen to his knees and wept. The beauty of Louis, his heat, his heart. What was the hurt Lestat felt compared to that? Nothing, a mere blip. “Aside from litigation and smoking my cigarettes and siphoning money from my merchandise?”
Or: After the meeting with their lawyers, Louis finds Lestat outside.

Summary
The bed in Lestat’s hotel room was big as an ocean. Wide open as a night that blossomed with stars, big enough to drown in it if you really wanted to. Soft, crisp sheets stretched over the mattress white as bridal lace. And as Louis pressed his hands to Lestat’s bare shoulders and shoved him down on it, he thought—Let this be our wedding day.
The bed was the sky and Lestat’s flesh was a meteor flashing across it. Louis straddled his hips and fell down against him to seal their mouths together. Deep inside the cavern of his head, he could still hear it—the resonant belt of Lestat’s voice in the bar where he’d serenaded Louis. Down on his knees in front of dozens of strangers as a crimson cascade of tears tumbled down his cheeks.

Summary
“Louis,” Lestat said, the edges of his voice only cracking a little. Offering up the most casual and unaffected smile he could manage. “To what do I owe the pleasure this evening?”
Louis’ eyes flicked from Lestat’s face slowly downward, lingering on his bare torso in a way that made Lestat feel like he was being eaten alive. “In town on business,” he said when his eyes landed squarely on Lestat’s face again. A little curl in one corner of his mouth, his eyes an otherworldly green Lestat ached to dive into. “Decided I was in the mood for a show. You gonna invite me in?”

Summary
Lestat could scarcely remember a time when he’d felt so alone. In a cheap motel room just outside of Hartford, the walls of his carefully-crafted facade at last began to fall down. Memories that had hounded him for months all condensing down to a single point that felt like a blade pressing to the center of his throat. Slashing him open and bleeding him out until he wished for nothing but to burn. And there weren’t enough drugs in all the world to make the remembering stop, but Lestat had tried anyway.
Or: The one where Louis makes everything okay again.

Summary
"You always had a thing for blondes." Lestat turns around in a daze. Lips, inches away. Accusing green eyes. A dark and unforgiving expression, reminiscent of the one Lestat so often received in New Orleans. Louis' lips skate over Lestat's eternally shaven cheek. His voice is taunting and cruel. "You gon' write her a song then?"
Lestat's stomach lurches. How could Louis think that? Just as he is about to swear no, Baby Jenks cries:
"Yes, yes!"
Her head is tilting back. She is warm and thick, rolling her hips and milking his cock. His vision sparks.
"Bet you are going to come inside of her. Fill her up and spill out onto the floor."
Lestat has an orgy in the elevator to distract him from Louis. Louis haunts him anyway.

Summary
The arena was too loud.
Louis felt the bass before he properly heard it, the vibrations rising through concrete and steel to settle unpleasantly beneath his ribs. White lights swept endlessly over the crowd below, catching glitter, sweat, upturned faces shining with the particular ecstasy of mortals permitted proximity to something beautiful enough to ruin them. They screamed themselves ragged for a vampire who had once played piano for Louis through his large iPad screen, candlelight wavering gold across his face while rain battered the windows of his Montreal apartment.
It still unsettled him sometimes, seeing Lestat like this. Not the fame, because Lestat had always required attention the way fire required oxygen. What disturbed him was the scale of it. The noise. The sheer appetite of it all. The complete surrender of himself to spectacle.
