Twilight blinked. Her mouth opened slightly. Sunset, catching the look on her face, turned toward the voices—and smirked, out of all things.
“Oh, right,” Sunset said, casually as ever. “Should’ve mentioned, Sunburst and Sombra are here.”
Twilight looked at her, eyebrows raised and stupefied. “Wait. Wait. Sunburst? Sombra? Like—my Sunburst? That Sombra?”
“Well,” Sunset said, folding her arms, “technically they’re not yours. And yes. They’re the ones from Equestria.”
“But... they’re human. And teenagers. And in the school uniforms too.”
“I know, right?” Sunset grinned. “Kinda weird how the portal just knows how to make it work.”

Summary
Did you ever watch this movie and think "hmmm, wouldn't it be cool if this kicked off a whole sitcom/slice-of-life series following growing up with one big supernatural secret?"
I thought so!
It picks up literally right at the end of the movie, and follows the characters over the years through high school! The story is slice of life style, with themes of friendship, family, love, growing up and finding who you are (with merpeople, of course). There are lots of ups and downs, but ultimately it's all about continuing the story with the same beats of whimsicality, fantasy, friendship, and love that make the movie so memorable.
