It started in the kitchen, he thinks, the bursting of this weirdo thing they have between the two of them. Maybe the kitchen's the wrong spot to pinpoint- maybe it was those years ago, stood in an old, dank barn gripping fear and that demon blade. Or, rather, it was before all that, with Dean cutting folks up on the racks and carving out those rictus faces, and Cas still thinking he was worth saving anyway. Wherever it was- Dean thinks now, it really started to break in the kitchen, after everything else is said and done, and when it ends up spilling, he'll be left alone to clean up the mess.

Castiel doesn't celebrate his birthday. Hasn't celebrated in years, up until he starts crashing at his twin brother's house and Jimmy asks that he stick around for a joint birthday bash out of goodwill. Castiel doesn't have many friends, so every guest ends up being one of Jimmy's. He's not sure who to expect to show up- he definitely doesn't expect Jimmy's friend Dean, the guy who brings pretzels and White Claws.

As a grease monkey turned college freshman, Dean's constantly three seconds away from being stressed out of his mind. It hardly helps that he's finally figuring out his sexuality in his thirties.
What might help with that stress is a little phone number (and a big credit card bill). If he can't figure out how to be bisexual in person, he can at least give it a go over the phone, right?

Summary
Maybe it's the little girl whose disappearance turned into a murder, and whose murder turned into a cold case, and who has now apparently decided to move in with him. Maybe it's the unacceptable hole left in his life when his dumb best friend and partner in (the prevention of) crime decided to go and get himself killed. Maybe it's his brother, whose high-profile career and fantastic girlfriend and first-child-on-the-way are steadily leaving Dean in the dust. Pick one. Pick all of them. The why doesn't matter so much as the what, and the what is this: Dean is pretty sure he's going completely, certifiably insane. Sure, he hasn't started wearing all his clothes inside out, and he still showers on a regular basis (anyways, that's not crazy, just a little eccentric); but there's no getting around the fact that he just threw away his life, his career, and his reputation by dragging out his mom's old necromancy book and summoning a Class A Forbidden Entity to his attic. A cranky one, too. With horrendous bed-head.

Summary
The man he’s riding with is a nice guy, Dean thinks. Cas, is his name. About 30 years old.
Dean had thought he was nice from the first time the guy fucked him. He wasn’t too rough about it, even though he paid enough that he could be. He touched Dean’s hair when Dean blew him, which made Dean embarrassingly hard.
He doesn’t get a lot of affection, out here on the road, living truckstop to truckstop. It’s why even the hint of it had had Dean gambling, offering his ass up for the next few weeks if the guy agreed to take him along for the ride.

Dean is a truckstop hooker. Cas is a trucker. He hitches a ride with Cas, planning to head out towards California and his brother. What he finds along the way, though, might make it hard to get out.
