Summary
At six in the morning every Monday alarm clocks across the region go off, yanking students out of eight- or six- or three-hours sleep. Eponine, for example, jerks awake from two hours and seventeen minutes of sleep with her homework stuck to her face, her Calculus textbook sliding off her desk with a thunk. Grantaire reaches out from beneath his covers and slaps the snooze button, only to roll off the bed minutes later, take his first shower in four days and then drag on the same pair of clothes he wore the day before, a wrinkled Green Day t-shirt and worn black jeans. Enjolras is awake before his alarm goes off. From the state of his hair, and the bags under his eyes, it’s debatable whether he went to bed in the first place. He spends a solid half-hour putting finishing touches on his English essay, skips breakfast, and runs to catch his bus at the end of his street.
In which Enjolras has a panic attack in the bathroom, and Grantaire stumbles into him.

Summary
Aposematism in animals is designed to prevent attack. It doesn't always work, sometimes it's ineffective against some predators, sometimes it isn't. As a primary defence mechanism, Newt is a colourful individual with his blue coat and golden hair. His secondary defences aren't visible however and often are what surprise his opponents the most. Bright creatures tend to be very toxic to predators, but mammals like honey badgers are aggressively defensive. Newt is a Hufflepuff and the emblem of his house suits him well. Signalling theory tells you that Newt warns off predators and opponents with his colours, but when they don't take heed he'll show his claws and fight tooth-and-nail. It's what survivors do.
And Newt Scamander is definitely a survivor.
