Summary
Tony was exhausted. He had willed himself to stay awake for as long as possible dreading what was going to happen when he fell asleep. He'd wake up to his own screaming, drenched in a cold sweat, plagued by recurring nightmares.
During the day, it was another struggle; he was troubled by flashbacks, all relating to either New York or Afghanistan. At times he was aware that they were just products of his imagination, but sometimes they were so intense that for the short duration that they lasted he would completely lose touch with reality, reliving the experience as if it was happening all over again.

There was something funny about the silence that followed, and so she ventured, "You want a PBJ, now, don't you?"
"I wouldn't say no to one. . ." he told her, nomming on her shoulder.
She swatted him. "Fine, fine. You and your enhanced metabolism."
Tilting his head, one corner of his mouth quirked up. "Did you google me?"
"Of course I did. I like to know who I'm sleeping with if I'm going to do it more than once.”
"You mad I didn't tell you?”
"I assumed you had your reasons. Maybe you liked being normal with me.”
"I do like being normal.”
She smiled and nodded. He really did make her happy. It was such a strange sensation. "Still want the sandwich?”
"Now that you know about the metabolism, I want two."
