Levi hears it before he sees it. He’s leaning against a street lamp with headphones around his neck; a random song is still playing in the background but he can't make out the lyrics. The car is one of the newer brands in Paradis; he heard about it from Furlan. It's larger than the ones locals drive around here, expensive. So maybe a foreigner, he thinks. The last rays of sunset hit the dark metal, making it glow like it’s burning around the edges. A halo around the machine.

Summary
Levi and Furlan are wrongfully detained as suspects in the military headquarters attack in Stohess but then they are released by the court under mysterious circumstances. Erwin Smith of foreign affairs is asked to keep a close watch on one of them, for reasons unbeknownst to him, and he has no other choice but to bring Levi into his own house in Mitras. A dangerous game was unfolding in the middle of Mitras, the Kingdom’s heart, and many were about to find themselves entangled in it.
