He is uncompromising where it counts, and intensely discerning, and is, therefore, a natural at organically weeding out the students who registered for his classes solely for the aforementioned chili peppers. But for those who truly want to learn, he is thorough and patient and fair, a born educator and leader.

“Jack.” She mouthed the name but he must have heard her because brown eyes met hers for a moment.
“Hold on, we’re nearly there. Just a minute longer.”
She was in Jack Abbot’s arms. One arm was banded across her legs, tight and curling around them till one hand rested on her thigh. The other cradled her back, pressing her against his chest hard enough that she could hear his racing heart when she pressed her ear against him.
Samira wasn’t given a chance to register any of that because they were moving again and she was suddenly assaulted with noise. It was a quiet night in the Pitt, not that she would say it outloud, but it must have been because how could so many doctors suddenly be at their side?
