Derek couldn't remember now what had brought them to where they’d ended up. But he remembered Reid’s face. The pink flush across the delicate length of his nose and high cheekbones. The way he had swallowed deeply, his Adam's apple bobbing.
He’d been petting at Clooney’s big head in his lap, his eyes downcast and his bottom lip between his teeth as he’d said it.
“I-I’ve never been kissed.”
His voice had been barely a whisper, so quiet that Derek had felt compelled to lean in closer to him. As if the words were so fragile that they could break.
“Never?” Derek whispered back, and Reid shook his head.
