It's easy to tell a story about a hero when everyone dreams of one, or about the horrors of war when the smell of bloodied corpses is still fresh. Summary
known in my head as 'the adventuring au', a straggly series of stories where merlin is a wandering physician (nearly. sort of) and Arthur is a wandering knight (er. almost. kind of) and they run into each other.
It's Arthur/Merlin but quite background, and there are other background pairings too.
Lots of 'magic can do cool things' and Merlin is a competent badass. And there is a DOG. a very good dog <3
