Summary
Will takes a shaky step back, staring at the young Prince with eyes wide. "Wha—" The word gets stuck in his throat, and he has to start over and try a second time. "What? Are you real?"
The Prince's face crinkles up in worry and confusion. "Um," he says. "Yeah?" He steps closer, his own movement faltering. "Are you okay?"
Will doesn't even know how to start answering that question. "Why are you little?" he asks.
The Prince's answer is, "Why are you?"
Akademeia exists within realities, between realities, and sometimes, if the conditions are right, as a connection to realities that would not otherwise meet. When Will, six years old and too curious for his own good, finds an unknown book there, it becomes just such a connection between his world and another.

"Are you implying you're YoRHa?" 2B interrogated from beside him.
"Well, no," the Thing replied, still wearing the cocky, unhinged grin that looked so out of place on his face, "not any more."
At this, the Thing directs its gaze to 9S, meeting his eyes, and the Thing’s eyes flash a brilliant red.
"But I used to be. After all, I am you," says the Thing that is definitely not 9S.
(Reimage is the process of removing all software on a computer and reinstalling everything. A reimage is necessary if your operating system becomes damaged or corrupted. You may also need to reimage if your system is plagued with spyware problems.)

Every screen in the room blazed with the same breaking news feed. An alien voice had just asked for him by name on live television.
“Mr. Grace?” little Jamal whispered from the front row, eyes huge behind his glasses. “Is that really you they’re talking about? Like, you you?”
Ryland’s mouth opened, but nothing came out. His heart slammed against his ribs like it wanted to escape and hide under the desk with the class hamster. He was just Mr. Grace. The guy who drew cartoon planets on the board, who stayed late helping kids glue together messy dioramas of the solar system, who once spent an entire lunch period comforting a sobbing girl because her goldfish had “gone to the great fishbowl in the sky.” He graded spelling tests on vocabulary words like photosynthesis and asteroid. Aliens did not know his name. Aliens did not ask for science teachers.
The marker slipped from his fingers and clattered to the floor.
