He's an untrained peasant, after all, unused to the rigorous training of the sword and shield, the weight of chainmail and plated armour, the endurance built by sustained battle. He doesn’t have the obvious bulk of a knight, nor the keen reflexes lacing his muscles. He’s… well, yes, Arthur supposes he would have thought Merlin weak.
