'Every lover is a soldier. Love is a warfare.'
I've changed this description a thousand times. None of them felt honest. I just wanted to read a story of broken people finding each other and dancing to good music in the middle of nowhere. I also wanted to figure out how to write about consuming love. The beginning isn't great, it slowly gets better. It's dramatic, extreme, a very unrealistic love story. But it is a love story. And there are a few lines that make me smile.

He looks like Wells, but he's not Wells. Clarke knows that right away. "I'm here to tell you a story," he says. And he does. He tells her how tomorrow she will wake up and overhear a conversation her father is having with her mother about the oxygen supply on the Ark. He tells her how her father will die, her mother will turn him in, she’ll be sent to isolation, and she will blame the only person who has always been on her side.
"Why are you telling me this? So I can stop it?"
"No, Clarke. I'm offering you a way out."
Or, four times Clarke doesn't take the way out, and one time she does, with a hell of a twist. (More detailed description in the notes lmao.)

Clarke doesn’t know what to say. She’s so old and clearly evergreen. Octavia meets her eye like an equal.
“I really like you. For me and for him. And I really like you for Murphy and I’m rooting for you all. I like you. So please, whatever happens, just stay.”
“I will,” Clarke says, blowing out smoke and watching it in the air. Her skin scales. The fumes inside of her. How she has been soaring through the sky all night. Dragonbreath. Her thumb, a talon, is still on borrowed words that have been carved into precious metal. “I promise.”

Writer Clarke, so scared of her soul mark that she's never looked at it. She pines after a lost boy and parties around the hole he has left in her life. Student life is waking up every day and deciding whether to drift or make a mess. It's all quite simple. Simple until she makes a friend.
