Wanting, Jaeyun knows, is supposed to be private.
This does not feel private at all.
He wants Sunghoon to see him. Not in the abstract, indulgent way one sees a student or a guest or someone pleasant enough to be tolerated. He wants Sunghoon to register him as specific. As someone who might be remembered after summer loosens its hold and everyone returns to their real lives.
Summer will end. Everything does.
And yet, even as he practices caution, something in him leans forward anyway, reckless and hopeful, toward the possibility of being undone.

For all of his six years with ENHYPEN, Kim Sunoo has been living with a conclusion he didn’t choose and can’t shake, that Park Sunghoon, his fellow member, for reasons unknown and probably personal, simply does not like him, hates him even.
It would be easier if Sunghoon were actually cold. If the distance were clean. But it isn’t, it’s full of small, confusing things that don’t fit the narrative, gestures that linger a second too long, a name dropped into quiet rooms for no reason, a presence that finds him even when Sunoo is trying very hard not to be found.
Sunoo files all of it under “that’s just how he is” and does not look too closely.
He should probably look more closely.

Good practice, Sunghoon mouths into the blanket. What does that mean?
He listens as Sunoo’s breathing slowly evens out and tries to match his own to the rhythm, but he still isn’t tired, Sunoo’s words circling the drain in his mind over and over again. Do people kiss just for practice? Sunghoon knows people kiss just because they want to have sex or whatever—he’s not an idiot—but practice has never entered his mind as a possibility.
Sunghoon asks Sunoo to be his first kiss.
