Summary
The moment felt heavy, even with how temporary this town would end up being to him. But something deep festered, something that projected his feet forward and Connor knew, in this moment, he was a sheep entering a lion's den. He just didn't know if he would buckle under the fear or live his life in spite of it.
Connor pushed through the doors anyway, breathing through only his mouth when the punch of thick air hit his face.
Nearly every pair of eyes landed on his own, the ringing in his ears drowning out the music. No stranger to feeling self conscious, he knew this moment would nestle its existence in his mind making itself at home.
Each judgmental blink was another lashing, slicing through his fatigue and making him bleed out his desperation.

“I…” Connor interrupted, voice barely above a whisper. “I don’t want to sleep.”
The air changed. Just slightly, just enough for Hank to feel it.
Connor looked up.
Hank swallowed, throat suddenly dry, “What…”
What do you want?
Connor stepped in, their hands still joined, and pressed back against him. Head back on his shoulder. Hank’s hand came to rest of his waist.
This time he felt Connor’s breath, rather than his words, against his skin.
“I want you to touch me.”
