What the title says. About 11 years ago (from my perspective; relativity is weird) I was launched into space onboard the Hail Mary to figure out a solution to the Astrophage problem. Now I live on an alien planet I call Erid, in the 40-Eridani system. Yes, I’m actually Ryland Grace. Ask me anything.
Also, can someone please tell me if Eva Stratt is alive? And ideally send me a video of you punching her in the face? Guess that’s a long shot, but it can’t hurt to ask.

Summary
The first time he feels the terror, he doesn't understand why. As he barely hangs onto consciousness, the soft silicon presses against his face, enveloping his nose and mouth. The spark of terror catches fire in his chest and quickly spreads across his body. It ignites a screaming inferno within his skull. He forces his eyes open. Everything is red. There's shapes above him. Pure oxygen fills his airways, stale and clinical and familiar and wrong.
Grace's memories of his unwilling medical sedation and forced sacrifice return, vivid and violent. Later, on the journey back to save Rocky, he has night terrors. The thin lines between consciousness, unconsciousness, memory, and nightmare blur.Bookmarked by archivist13

Summary
The alien—Grace—is finally asleep. Or, at least, Rocky thinks he is. He’s curled on his side, tucked away under a covering. Rocky sits on the other side of the alcove the human lies in, fiddling away with one of his many repair projects. Typically, watching another as they sleep is fairly straightforward and uneventful. Not much is needed beyond something to do and to keep a lookout for whoever’s resting.
But Rocky can’t help but focus more on Grace as he rests. He just can’t; the way the human sleeps is, quite literally, otherworldly.

Stratt nodded curtly. “Yes, Dr. Ryland Grace. I was one of his superiors during his time working on Project: Hail Mary.” Eva swallowed, “I’m…sorry for your loss. Your brother is remembered as a hero.”
"Yeah. I guess I never thought he’d,” Colt swallowed, “I never thought something bad would happen to him. He went to college. He got a doctorate. Save for a very brief party phase during his undergrad, Ryland was the safe one. I, on the other hand, jumped off buildings and got set on fire for a living.”
Stratt pondered this information. “I was under the impression that you were dead. There was a news report circulating. Dr. Grace was,” she paused, choosing her next words carefully, “distraught.”

He stumbled backwards, collapsing onto the floor of the lab with a resounding thud as Rocky screeched, scrambling over to him. Ryland brought his knees to his chest, burying his face in his hands.
“Why Grace fall, question? Grace okay? Grace say Grace okay!”
“I’m- I’m okay, Rocky, I just-” he whispered, feeling a sense of guilt pool in his stomach as something else made the hairs on his arms stand on end. “I- I have a brother. Colt is my brother. How could I-” he felt a tear trickle down the side of his face- “How could I forget my twin brother?”
Or-
During an argument about who is going to risk themselves to retrieve the predator collector, Grace finds that he's had an argument with someone this stubborn before, and it's only a matter of time before that name slips out, bringing back the flood of memories that come with it.

“I- I did. For a bit,” he sighed, biting the inside of his cheek. “But it, uh, it didn’t work out. She thought I had my head in the clouds.” He pulled his knees to his chest. “Guess she was right. She’s with Mark now.”
“Rocky hate Mark.”
“Yeah, screw Mark. He sounds like a jackass.”
Ryland flinched, looking around the Hail Mary on instinct before he remembered that he was alone, he was twelve light-years away from the next closest human. He sighed, squeezing his eyes shut. But then again, why did that voice sound so clear?

Rocky and Grace talk about mates, and when Rocky announces that he hates Mark, Grace suddenly remembers two other people who also really hate Mark. A camera woman named Jody, and her mysterious stuntman boyfriend with a Miami Vice Stunt Team jacket that shares Ryland's face. But annoyingly, he can't seem to remember the stuntman's name, and why he cared so much about him and his leather jacket.

He slowly crept into the Stunt Crew’s trailer, snatching his phone back and powering it back on, only to be faced with a number that Colt had to believe was a glitch.

Colt blinked. Damn, Ry. I leave for three hours.

Colt Seavers is being framed for murder, but when he gets back to his phone, he sees that he has 382 missed calls from his brother Ryland, and 127 voicemails, each one more panicked than the last. His quest to clear his name by forcing Tom Ryder into a confession is overshadowed by the overwhelming anxiety of what had his twin brother so scared, and why Ryland isn't answering the phone just days before the Hail Mary launches.

“Stunts, huh?” She mused, looking him up and down as Colt felt heat rush to his face. Jody chewed on the inside of her cheek, cocking her head to the side as she studied him closely. “Are you-” she lowered her voice to barely above a whisper. “Are you Ryder’s stunt double?”
“I am actually," he admitted. “How’d you-”
“I knew he didn’t do his own stunts!” She whispered excitedly with a grin that made Colt feel weak in the knees. “He’s such a bloody prick, I mean, there’s no way someone who’s that much of a prat actually has the balls to do his own stunts.”
He’s so fucked.

Colt has always been good at keeping people at a distance. There are some people who count as exceptions though. One being Jody, and the other his twin brother, Ryland. The two keep in touch, but haven't seen each other in years due to both of their busy schedules, and Colt constantly being on the move for filming. That is at least until Colt ends up in San Francisco to film for Jody’s newest movie, and it just so happens they need a talented scientist to help put the movie over the edge. Colt knows just the guy.
