Summary
Sylvain had decided: the trip would end this story one way or another—he’d get what he wanted or get his heart broken. He would not go home and spend the rest of his summer, of his existence, in this miserable state of angst (*probably, he would, but let it be for another reason). For the longest time, life felt as though he’d been walking along the edge of a cliff, swerving, swerving, never stable. He lived off of his fantasies, fell asleep and woke up with the bitter comfort they brought; he latched onto his hopes like a starving dog latches onto an already chewed bone. Ingrid had told him, too. He could not go on like this. Now, the problem was: how?
