Summary
There was a shift.
Like a pebble breaking the surface tension of a pond. Like a windstorm dying out for a mere moment. The moment when you’re cut before you feel the pain. The exhilaration between two moments of fear as you fall from a cliff to the sea. Like the phantasmal moment a memory slips away from you. Something you could have blinked and missed.
Where had it gone? Where did the island north of Vaugarde go? A people, a culture, a beautiful place. And then it was gone. Forgotten, as though it was never there. Leaving nothing but a vacuum in people’s minds, an inexplicable blank space on the maps, no meaning for the stars. Just open sea.
But there was the key - it wasn’t gone. It was hidden. It could not be seen, could not be thought of, could not be visited. But it was still there.
Three sailors, unaware of what this place means, find the island. They cross the veil keeping it hidden from the world.
And then they are trapped there.
They alone are the only tether between two worlds, split apart.
They must break this curse, they need to make the world remember.
But some things are forgotten for a reason.
When the light breaks through the veil, it will leave us blind.
