Their paths will cross. Life will regain its purpose. Hope will prevail.

Gem and Pearl are two survivors of a zombie apocalypse, maybe the only two. It's been five months since the outbreak started, and neither have found any other survivors since. They're completely, utterly alone in the world. Until Pearl comes across a horde of zombies surrounding an abandoned church.

Summary
Pearl landed on the frozen earth of the Crystal Cliffs, folding her golden wings behind her. They flashed in the dull winter sun, reflecting small rays of pale light around the snow. It was colder where Gem lived, compared to his empire. The Crystal Cliffs got snow ten months out of the year, and even in the two months where it was uncommon, outer layers were advised. Still, most of the flowers bloomed year round, giving the place an ethereal aura. People wandered the streets, mostly human or elf, but the empire had been opened to any kind of hybrid recently. Pearl had always assumed it was because of some magic spells Gem had used, but her girlfriend denied anything of the sort.

Summary
Gem knew Hermitcraft was an accepting place.
It wouldn’t be her home if it wasn’t. And besides, it had enough oddities that her being trans shouldn’t be something to bat an eye at. Doc regularly broke the rules of logic and space, Grian was some monstrosity with too many eyes and too many feathers, Hypno was a god of time, Mumbo Jumbo was apparently a goth icon-the list went on and on. Gem being born a boy seemed pale in comparison. Trivial, even.
At least, that’s what she told herself.

Summary
Gem has seen her friends disappear into death games and return broken and scarred too many times. When she discovers Pearl is about to be sent into another, she knows what she has to do – she will follow Pearl into hell and get her through it safely.
Unfortunately, the Watchers have different ideas for everyone. They've had enough of standing by and observing. Now, they want control. When Gem's arrival ruins every plan, there's only one thing for them to do: erase her memory of why she's there.
