He appreciates the calm predictability of it, the fact that there is a history to every ballet, and someone else has danced every role before him. The princess falls in love with the prince, ballet blancs end tragically, and no one ever needs to speak their feelings out loud.

The coffee shop’s owner is pretty perfect too, but it’s kind of a bummer that Dean never gets to see Cas during the day. In a world where the supernatural live more or less in peace with the rest of humanity, it’s a little impolite to ask Cas just what he really is - or what his dark past entails.

Getting Lan Zhan to sit up again is like trying to unfold a letter made of granite. When Wei Wuxian finally manages it, he sees that Lan Zhan's face is rigidly blank, but his eyes are rimmed with red, and fixed firmly to the ground. It makes Wei Wuxian want to tear the whole earth apart with his bare hands, if it will only make Lan Zhan not look like that.
