Then they notice Matt keeps getting hurt and showing up to work injured and they get concerned. They get even more concerned when they find out he has a boyfriend.

His weak point was too easy to find. Never himself, but the people he cared for. The people he loved, despite all his defences. Somehow they’d managed it again. Found one of the few idiots in New York stupid enough to love him back, or at least care and left him bleeding just out of reach. Left him there for Frank to spiral analysing the wounds, reading the story of pain written there in meticulous detail.

Buck’s imagined finding his soulmate what must be thousands of times. Imagined the curve of their delighted smile, the warmth of their embrace. Usually, in his mind, they were a woman. As he grew older and knew himself better, he allowed himself to sometimes picture a man. Sometimes, before the truck bombing, he’d wished it would be Eddie himself.
But always, always, they wanted him.
The reality of the situation is a far cry from his daydreams: Buck, sitting on the cold tile, quietly weeping as he realizes that the person he’s been waiting for, the person he was made for, doesn’t want him after all.

Summary
Hitting the pavement hard enough to bruise the muscles in his back will never compare to opening his eyes and seeing nothing in color as he blinks the pouring rain out of his eyes. The residing pain made his arm shake from feeling the lightning go through his skin.
He could feel the vibrations and the ache in his head. His helmet was gone, and he grabbed it more out of reflex than anything else, knowing without a doubt that he needs it. Muscle memory telling him so.
But none of it compares to looking up and seeing Buck hanging there and only seeing him in black and white. The night sky behind him seems even darker, and his entire world feels like it’s halting. Freezing as the rain hits his face, but it’s as though he doesn’t even feel it. Eddie thinks that he may not feel anything at all.

Red didn’t speak for a moment, like he was trying to think of how to word it and understand what was happening. He croaked out the words, trying to bring in air in between syllables. “Frank…you and I live here. Have for like…three years.”

Grian got the call that they’d found Scar at 3am.
He hadn’t been sleeping, of course - he hadn’t really slept in weeks at that point, not since Scar had been taken. How was he supposed to, when his husband, the love of his life wasn’t in his rightful place beside him in bed? How was he supposed to rest when his dreams were full of the terrified expression on his lover’s face as he’d sat, bound, in that horrible, rickety chair in some dim basement? How was he supposed to live with himself knowing that Scar was out there, being tortured and held against his will because of Grian, and he was doing nothing to find him?
