Summary
Teruki Hanazawa has lived his whole life alone. And so, whenever problems overtook him he was left to fend on his own. Though, this time he loses himself in the floods of depression, and without the strength to pull himself out of the water, he plans to drown. But, he's not alone. Unlike his past he's surrounded by helping hands, reaching to pull him out of the waves. Yet he can't help but swat them away.

When Knox hands Neil two movie tickets he no longer needs, Neil doesn't question why the first person he thinks to invite is Todd. Maybe it's just convenience, or maybe, there's something underneath he's not ready to name.
What starts as a simple night out turns into stolen laughter, hushed whispers, and moments that linger longer than they should. In shadows and fleeting glances, Neil begins to sense a quiet warmth he’s never quite noticed before, and maybe... he doesn’t want to stop noticing.

Summary
And Todd nods as he sniffles, blinking as his eyes threaten to blur. He can only nod when he feels his teacher pat him on the shoulder, murmuring apologies that he doesn’t need to say at all.
“I just wish they didn’t have to take him away. I mean, he’d be alright. I think he’d be, but…”
When he spends a considerable amount of time in silence, Keating takes this opportunity to voice out what’s in his mind, and to say what he’s been seeing in all of Todd since he entered the room, nerves and all.
“Now, why do you care so much?” he starts off gently, careful in the way he says it, like stepping on a puddle, “You’re the one who hasn’t been around for a long time, especially with him. It’s only been four months that you’ve known each other, that you’ve known Mr. Perry.”
“Well, yeah, but he’s my roommate. He’s my friend. And…and he’s helped me…a lot.”
“But it’s a lot more than that. Isn’t it, Todd?”
Where Neil returns to Welton and tells Todd about his parents' plans to send him away, and where Todd has to come to terms with all of what he feels before it happens.

Summary
“Why didn’t you leave a note?” Todd wonders, and he can feel Neil watching him like hawks do field mice but being caught feels a little like being saved.
His voice sounds wretched. “…I don’t know.”
Todd thinks about Keating’s hands on his eyes, spinning around the classroom, forcing the poetry out of his stammer. It seems he can only find the right words to say within dizzying darkness. “Do not go gentle into that good night, Neil,” he breathes, waxing poetic because what else is there to do? “Rage.”
"Run away with me."
