Watching Tamba almost be sentenced made Kamimura feel a sickening sense of joy. Ken would live, and Kazutoshi was a horrible person.
He felt sick being happy.
The stupid rabbit.

But I can’t do any of that unless I get out of here. Kazutoshi thought.
The game’s creators, their wardens, wanted him to start thinking like that. They wanted him to be desperate, to cling to life with everything he had, even if it meant destroying somebody else’s.
Unfortunately for them, Kazutoshi had already learned long ago that the world hated him and wanted him dead, and that every single second spent defying that fate was him raising a massive middle finger at God. He had chosen to keep living out of spite, but he refused to do it through the terms set out by the killing game.
And that meant that if he wanted to experience any of those simple, lovely dreams, he was going to have to get everyone out of this alive.
