Summary
The necklace was one of a pair, the tiniest bit of magic Merlin had allowed into the open: if one were torn, the other would break too. It tears on Lancelot's neck just a day away from Camelot.
When the knights gallop into the courtyard, the fire's smoke rising high above the citadel, they are too late.
They say that Merlin went up in flames brighter than the sun, the wind screaming as it picked them up and flared them stronger, higher; that the sparks touched the sky itself. When the fire let up, nothing remained.

Summary
Ever the brave one, or foolhardy, as Merlin would call him, Arthur launches forward, skipping over the twisting roots and stumbling only a little until he reaches the light and giddily points at the ball. It flickers under his hand, and he retracts his fingers.
"Will you lead us to safety?" the prince asks of it.
The ball holds his gaze before it slowly floats away. Arthur follows after it with sure steps, and they have no choice but to follow after him wherever it leads — to the promised salvation, or to a sinister nest of the angler beasts.

The scrawled letters blur on the parchment. Merlin had asked him to run a simple errand, a little bit of shopping. He mentioned some things they needed, pushed the piece of paper and some coins in his palm, and hurried on his way after Arthur.
The letters tell him nothing.

Summary
"Sometimes I dream of leaving Camelot," Arthur spoke into the quiet of the forest.
It was quiet except for their horses' trotting steps, not too quiet to alert the paranoid knights, but enough for everyone to hear about his silly dream. It was apparent that Arthur intended to trust it only to Merlin's ears, but Merlin blundered through it and answered much louder, for everyone to hear and to join in the jest.

"I can't believe it!" Arthur exclaimed in the resulting quiet. "You've known him for what — a day, two?" he pointed accusingly at Lancelot.
"What can I say," Merlin was unapologetic. He stoked the fire of their camp, his expression perfectly composed except for the corners of his mouth, which tried to run off into a smirk. "One look at Lancelot's doe eyes, and I vowed to move heaven and earth for him. A little forgery was nothing."
"This! You can't just— do capital crimes for people you hardly know!"

Summary
For almost a month now, Merlin has been coming to Lancelot’s room in the evening, after Lancelot has dined with his fellow knights. It’s been long enough for it to feel routine, comfortable and well-worn. Lancelot has the knife ready, and a clean cup for Merlin to drink from. He’ll cut his arm, bleed as much as Merlin will allow him to, and then Merlin will heal the wound, drink every drop from the cup, and be on his way.
It works, more or less, but Lancelot has still spent most of the day trying to work up the courage to ask for more.
Or: Lancelot asks vampire Merlin to bite him for the first time. Everyone is happy with how it works out.

Summary
Gwaine travels back in time and decides that the easiest solution to all of their problems is for everyone to think he’s dating Merlin. It’ll be perfect. They’re good pals, Arthur won’t grow suspicious of the tavern cover, and he can help Merlin with his super sneaky sorcery bullshit. It’d be perfect!
There’s just one… teensy, tinsy… glaring issue.
For some reason, his advances are making Lancelot realize that he also wants Merlin.
