His gaze returned to the mountain of trash bags. It was a monument to his life: piled up, rotting, ignored, and uselessly stinking up the place. He’d treated his existence like a hand of cards he was waiting to fold.
"Alright," he whispered to the empty, filthy room. "Fine."

Bright grey eyes fix on Lan Wangji, their black pupils immediately growing huge and round.
