After Ahti gives Jesse the cassette player to traverse the Ashtray Maze, she chats a bit with Emily, and heads to her office at the end of the day.
There, her confidence quivers --what if something happens? This should be her last fight before finding the Slide Projector and shuting it off. After that, they'd only have to deal with the remaining Hiss.
Right?
Maybe not. Maybe something will go wrong. And the only thing Jesse can think of is leave Emily a letter with everything she didn't have the guts to tell her in person, and the request to take the lead (Emily hopes, temporarily), if it comes to that.
When the FBC is without a Director, Emily tries to deal with the grief and, yes, leading the Bureau.
