Summary
Staying in the lab gave Viktor far too much time to imagine what was going on outside of it. To imagine how Jayce spoke with people who weren’t his colleagues; with people who had no professional boundaries and perhaps too much to drink. People who could speak casually, flatter him, flirt with him—and that was all part of the deal. They had something Jayce needed, and he had no choice but to bite his tongue and endure their praise.
In a fit of jealousy, Viktor accidentally stumbles into an opportunity to tell Jayce what he really thinks.

He wasn't the only one who was feral, and he felt an unbelievable rush as Viktor rocked his hips back, so that the crease of his bare ass was sliding up and down against Jayce's aching erection.
And all thoughts of leaving this for tomorrow fly out the window.

"Viktor was many things. Smart, obviously; attractive and not just in his looks; transparent with his emotions, there was no way to avoid seeing them in his facial expressions; occasionally oversensitive and brutally honest; funny and when he wanted to be, sassy, but he was, inevitably and painfully, a terrible liar.
Jayce should have known this sooner, he had gotten a taste of it the night they had tried to break into Professor Heimerdinger's lab and had been caught in the act by Councilor Medarda. Not because he thought it unlikely that he would follow Viktor into his bedroom in the middle of the night; to be honest, that was an aspect of himself that still confused Jayce, but because there was no way the two of them could have gotten to the wrong hallway and the wrong floor, and besides not with that set of keys. It amazed him that such a lie could have come from the mouth of the very man who would soon become his partner.
Jayce actually found this Viktor's trait quite amusing. The person who had saved his life, the brilliant scientist, was incapable of doing such a foolish thing as lying."Bookmarked by Sam_K_Lin

Summary
He had gone from toiling as an assistant to teaching first year classes and filling in for the more senior professors when the occasion arose. It was boring. Biology was not even his field of study. Not that he had an official field of study, unless memorizing Heimerdinger’s insane organizational system, a thing built over centuries, counted. His life was a monotony quickly slipping through his fingers. His leg and back were failing. He felt old before his time and there was the ever-ticking clock hanging over his head.
There had been a promise of something more, once. An explosion. A journal that was meant to be destroyed. A theory so insane it barely made sense until you looked closer and realized that the science was sound. However, it was not to be. A child had died.Instead of forgetting Viktor exists, Heimerdinger seeks him out when he, Ekko, and Powder hit a snag with their Hextech research. It doesn't take long to realize that they need a fifth great mind and Viktor goes to find Jayce while the timeline starts to shatter.
