Summary
What happened in Paris was meant to stay there. It was a glimpse into another life, one that only ever brought them pain.
Over fifteen years later, Emily is being left behind. Lives are built, and she isn't a part of them. The mask she wears has slipped, her mortality is catching up to her, and it's easier to turn her back than to stand there and watch it.
JJ is still married. She shouldn't be. Her marriage has become a contract that she's too tired to leave.
With Emily pressing buttons, and JJ already halfway out the door, love, need, and anger rear their heads.
What follows is a series of terrible decisions, a vicious spiral they can't seem to escape, and a future neither of them dared to dream of.

Summary
After losing her job, Jennifer Jareau takes the only offer she has left: a room, a paycheck, and a chance to start over at a ranch forty minutes from everything she's ever known.
Moving to Prentiss Ranch means new routines, hard work, and a six-year-old who has a lot of questions about horses. It also means Emily Prentiss, who seems about as thrilled by the arrangement as JJ is.
